Water Feature by Clodagh Design

Water features are a unique way of creating a calm and relaxed environment – so what better place to add them to than an office setting?  Trueform Concrete fabricated a custom water feature for Clodagh Design, an architecture and interior design firm located in NYC.  The project was a Clodagh original design for the lobby of a sales office in NYC.  Concrete is a perfect medium for water features because it is completely versatile and can be used as the actual basin, or can be cast to accommodate or surround an existing basin.   This fountain was fabricated using a GFRC concrete outer shell and a stainless steel inner catch pan,  similar in concept to a tissue box cover since the pieces were independent of each other.  Clodagh chose our concrete color Coffee from the Classic Premium Color Palette.  The fountain pan was filled with river rocks and 3 lights were submerged under the rocks to shine up and refract through the water. This added a nice effect to the already tranquil sound of the water trickling through the river rocks.  I think the percussion of the water hitting rocks and steel was important to the design.  Overall it was a fun project and proved to be another great use of concrete outside of the typical applications.
